GUM DISEASE TREATMENT – HOUSTON, TX

It's about more than just your teeth

Dentists are whole mouth experts. That is, they know everything there is to know about your teeth, your facial bones and muscles, and anything else associated with your mouth, especially your gums.

Without consistent good oral hygiene, gums can become infected or develop disease, which can lead to bone loss and even tooth loss if not treated promptly and properly. At Muse Dental Studio, we constantly monitor your gum health in order to get a handle on any problems before they become severe. We have several different treatments that can help prevent gum disease and repair gum injury, ensuring that your entire mouth stays healthy.

Scaling & Root Planing

Your hygienist removes plaque and tartar during your twice yearly cleanings, but sometimes more intensive treatment is called for. Dentists can remove plaque and tartar below the gum line (scaling) and reshape and smooth tooth roots (root planing). Getting rid of the tartar and plaque, and smoothing the roots of the teeth helps prevent more buildup and lowers the risk of developing gum infections.

Antibiotic Therapy

The spaces between your teeth, called periodontal pockets, are the most likely places for bacteria to gather and hide. These tiny pockets are hard to reach. Even with diligent flossing and regular checkups, they can become inflamed or infected. Antibiotic therapy enables dentists to make sure that all bacteria is killed, no matter where it hides. Dentists can apply a topical antibiotic right onto your gums which seeks out and destroys bacteria that might remain even after rigorous oral care.

Soft Tissue Laser Therapy

Unlike some of the characters in Star Wars, we use our lasers only for good. With our state-of-the-art soft tissue laser, we can find and eliminate gum disease without harming surrounding tissue. This pinpoint accuracy ensures the patient can remain comfortable during the procedure. The laser automatically cauterizes and seals the affected area, minimizing bleeding, swelling, and pain. Our laser is by far the best tool for treating gum disease available. It works with speed, precision, and comfort to provide the best possible results.
