Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Dentures?
If you’re missing all or most of your teeth, you would be an excellent candidate for full dentures, which is probably what you picture when you think of dentures. These artificial teeth are attached to an acrylic base that’s the same color as gum tissue. They fit snugly over your gums and restore your smile, as well as your biting force, allowing you to easily speak and eat whatever you want.
On the other hand, if you’re only missing a few teeth, you might benefit from an appliance called partial dentures. Like full dentures, partial dentures contain some gum-colored acrylic material, but only the required number of artificial teeth. It rests on your gum tissue with a wire that snakes behind your remaining natural teeth to restore your bite back to its full potential.
How Are Dentures Made?
Once we decide that dentures are right for you, we will begin the process by taking detailed x-rays and impressions of your mouth and jaw. From these impressions, our dental lab will create models for you to try on. As soon as you try on one that fits you perfectly, we will then send that model off to the lab for a final fit to be created. Once it arrives, we can then adjust it as needed to give you the perfect smile.
Benefits of Dentures
Dentures offer many benefits, including:
- Increasing your self-esteem
- Improving the appearance of your smile
- Providing support to your facial muscles
- Improving your speech and biting power
- Easily removable and cleanable
- Comfortable
- Very likely covered by your dental insurance
Implant-Retained Dentures
Traditional dentures may still slip and slide around in your mouth if they don’t fit correctly. That’s why we offer dentures securely held in place by dental implants. We can place an average of four to six implants strategically throughout the jawbone to anchor full dentures in place. Thanks to implant-retained dentures, your prosthetic teeth will be extremely stable. No longer will you have to worry about unexpected and embarrassing slippage.
