Who's a good candidate for Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is an excellent solution for a nice, even smile, but it’s not right for everyone. For example, success with Invisalign® relies heavily on patient compliance. You will be required to wear the trays for a recommended 20-22 hours every day during treatment. This is why Invisalign® is usually suggested for adults and teens with the maturity to stick to the rules of the treatment.

The Invisalign® process

  1. Come to the office for a consultation where the dentist will take a scan of your mouth and teeth, which will be used to fabricate your clear aligner trays.
  2. After a couple of weeks, come back to see us and receive your first batch of fully customized aligners. The number you get will depend on your treatment plan.
  3. Go home and wear each set of aligner trays 20-22 hours every day for about 10 days, removing them only to clean and care for your teeth, or eat and drink.
  4. Come back to visit us in six weeks, or when your dentist recommends, to make sure your treatment is progressing as expected.
  5. Once you’ve finished the first batch of aligners, we will do another scan of your mouth and you may receive another set of aligners. This process is repeated as often as you want until your teeth are perfect and you are 100% satisfied with the results.

Invisalign® trays are easy to care for. Brush them gently with your toothbrush and rinse them with cool water every time you take them out of your mouth. It’s best not to use toothpaste or anything abrasive to avoid scratching them. To keep your aligners crystal clear, remove them when you drink anything but cool water and periodically soak them in denture cleaner for about 15 minutes (make sure to use a brand without coloring).
