Welcome To Houston
Every day, we think about how lucky we are to live and work in Houston, TX. Houston is proud to have the honors of being the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest city in the United States. It is full of cultural experiences as well as plenty of locations for family and nightlife. Let us take you on a tour of our wonderful city.
History of Houston
Houston won independence from Mexico following the battle of San Jacinto. It officially became a city in 1837 after General Sam Houston signed an act that incorporated Houston. Oil was discovered in the early 1900s, putting the city in the center of the oil development business. Following WWII, the city moved into establishing more of its history in the arts with the development of the Houston Grand Opera. Houston became extremely popular with the arrival of NASA and directed the first mission to the moon in the 1960s.
Fun Things to Do
Houston is a popular travel destination. With the horrible winter we experienced behind us, there is no time like the spring and summer to take in some of the most popular sight-seeing destinations. For the sports enthusiast, we recommend taking in a baseball game to see the Houston Astros. If football or basketball are more your pleasure, the Houston Texans or the Houston Rockets are always crowd pleasers. For family outings, we suggest a visit to the Houston Zoo to see some of your favorite animals. We also recommend the Children’s Museum of Houston, which will be reopening at the beginning of June.
If food and nightlife are more your scene, Houston is home to over 10,000 restaurants, with cuisine representing more than 70 countries. We are sure that you will find something to tickle your fancy. In terms of nightlife, there is something to please everyone, with numerous locations that offer everything from high energy dancing to quiet wine bars. Music lovers will also enjoy the many music venues such as the Houston Grand Opera and the Miller Outdoor Theatre.
