About River Oaks
Brothers Will and Mike Hogg began shaping River Oaks in the 1920s as one of the first master planned communities in the United States, laying out winding, oak canopied streets around the River Oaks Country Club. Nearby Bayou Bend, once the Hogg family home, now holds one of the finest American decorative art collections in the world.
Set between Downtown and Uptown along Buffalo Bayou, the neighborhood is bordered by Westheimer and Shepherd and flows into Upper Kirby and Avalon Place. The historic River Oaks Shopping Center, among the oldest in Texas, still anchors daily life on West Gray, keeping the area both refined and genuinely neighborly.
